    FAQ

    Drawdown calculator FAQs

What is the difference between daily and maximum drawdown?

Daily drawdown limits how much your account can lose within one trading day, usually measured from that day's starting balance or equity. Maximum (overall) drawdown limits your total loss from the starting balance, or from the highest balance if the firm uses a trailing limit. Breaching either one normally fails the challenge or funded account.

Where do I find my daily and overall equity floors?

Most prop firms show them on the account dashboard as a minimum equity level or a remaining loss limit for today and overall. Enter those numbers exactly. Rules differ between firms, so always go by your own firm's dashboard.

Does floating loss count toward drawdown?

At most prop firms, yes. Limits are usually based on equity, which includes the floating profit or loss of open trades. That is why this calculator asks for current equity rather than balance.

Does the calculator handle trailing drawdown or daily resets?

No. It compares your current equity with the floors you enter. If your firm trails the maximum drawdown or resets the daily limit at a set time, update the floors from your dashboard before you calculate.

How can I avoid breaching my drawdown limit?

Risk a small, fixed amount per trade (many traders use 0.5–1%), stop trading for the day after a set loss, avoid trading through major news, and size every position from your stop loss with the lot size calculator.
